The US has decried the deaths of civilians in Syria and even used it as justification for it’s war against Syria, but the US condones it if they are the ones doing the killing and I’m pretty sure Cameron could justify the ironic distinction also. The “moderate terrorists” (now, a not funny joke) have been doing it for five years with the US supporting their murderous activity, now, when all their state sponsored terrorists are, well, terrorists, they want to do some more – in the name of a humanitarian war against terrorists?????So we just chuck the Geneva Convention out of the window?
“For a number of years now, Democratic leaders defend the large-scale killing of civilians in the name of “fighting terrorism.” There has been consternation expressed in the media at statements by Republican presidential candidates who appeared to be advocating the large-scale killing of civilians through aerial bombardment as a legitimate means of defeating the so-called “Islamic State.” (IS)(Al Qaeda’s al Nusra etc.) These statements actually advocate the killing of civilians as a legitimate tactic in counter-terrorism warfare.”
(As opposed to simply cutting off their revenue source and and supply of weapons, food and water and medical aid as Russia is doing) The US repeatedly shelled the hospital without borders in Kunduz, even though the hospital gave them their co-ordinates many times, but vilified Russia for bombing “hospitals” where none existed in Syria.
“Let’s put aside for a moment the irony of killing innocent people as a means of fighting a terrorist group that kills innocent people. Such operations would constitute a flagrant violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention and other principles of international law to which the United States, like all governments and armed groups, is legally bound.”
In other words, deliberately targeting civilians is in direct violation of all that is acceptable within International Law. Perpetrators of such heinous atrocities should be held to account, whoever they are and whoever they sponsored. IS terrorists have already admitted they receive funding from the US. It really is time to boot out of the UN all governments who state sponsor terrorism. That would include all the Sunni extremist Arab royals, Turkey, UK, several EU countries, Israel and of course the US. The other 120+ countries can carry on without the guilty.
